    • UA/TA/LA/LT/AUX/ATX/ALTX/WTH/WTS/UAG/GRT/S/M/KMI heaters can all be converted from NG to LPG, or from LPG to NG. A gas valve conversion kit and an orifice kit will be required to convert the heater.
    • VS heaters can be converted from NG to LPG, or from LPG to NG. An orifice kit will be required to convert the heater.
    • AM heaters can be converted from NG to LPG, or from LPG to NG. An alternative gas valve and orifice kit will be required to convert the heater.
    • Series MA and Series Premier VSVH are only approved for use with NG and cannot be converted.

Please note: SRP heaters cannot be rate converted in the field. Consult your local SRP representative for more information.

Please contact our authorized distributor in your area and provide your heater model.

Learn more about clearances

  • What is the recommended minimum clearance for combustible materials?

    Manuals

    • AM/UAG: pg 9, 10
    • UA/TA/LA/LT: pg 9, 10, 11
    • AUX/ATX/ALTX: pg 8, 9, 10
    • WTH/WTS: pg 8, 9, 10
    • GRT: pg 7, 8
    • S: pg 7
    • M/KMI: pg 9
    • VS: pg 16, 17
    • VSVH: pg 16, 17

Please note: Combustible materials are considered to be wood, compressed paper, plant fibers, plastics, Plexiglas, or other materials capable of being ignited and burned. Such materials shall be considered combustible even though flameproofed, fire-retardant-treated, or plastered.

    Where to find more information?

Follow the clearance to combustibles chart in the products manuals.

  • Can I reduce my minimum clearances to combustible materials?

Bottom Shields are approved for all burner sizes. The below clearance (dimension C in Clearance Tables) may be reduced by 25% when an approved Bottom Shield is used.

Reduced clearances downstream from the burner are approved for all configurations. Dimensions B, C, and D in the Clearance Tables can be reduced for locations 25’ (7.6 m) or more downstream from a burner, the maximum reduction is 50%.

Please note: The stated minimum clearance to combustibles represents a surface temperature of 90°F (50°C) above room temperature. Building materials with low heat tolerance (i.e. plastics, vinyl siding, canvas, tri-ply, etc.) may be subject to degradation at lower temperatures.

    Where to find more information?

Follow the clearance to combustible pages in the product manuals

  • What is the recommended clearance for sprinklers?

Maintain minimum clearance to combustibles from sprinkler systems, and make sure these devices are not overheated.

Learn more about thermostats

  • Which thermostat do I need?
    • UA/LA/AUX/WTH/UAG/S/M/KMI: single-stage thermostat (such as CE139 or CE053)
    • TA/LT/GRT/ATX/ALTX/WTS/MA: two-stage thermostat (such as CE138 or CE211)
    • AM: modulating thermostat (such as CE195)

    Where to find more information?

Please contact our authorized distributor in your area and provide your heater model.

  • How to wire thermostats?
    • Single Stage: Connect the purple wire to W and the blue wire to R
    • Two-Stage: Connect purple wire to R, brown wire to W1, and yellow wire to W2

Please note: if your thermostat requires a common “C” to operate, please add an additional common wire to the ground inside the burner box.

  • Can I use a smart thermostat?

Yes, single-stage and two-stage SRP heaters are compatible with smart thermostats.

  • Can I use one thermostat for multiple heaters?
    • UA/TA/LA/LT/AUX/ATX/ALTX/WTH/WTS: up to 6 burners with the use of relays (CE381 or CE380)
    • AM: up to 4 heaters with the use of a multiplexer and relays (CE241 and CE242)
    • S/M/KMI: uses external 24VAC supply, Class 2 transformer required. The transformer size depends on the number of heaters controlled at the same time. Transformer size = no. of Heaters x 20VA

    Where to find more information?

Please contact our authorized distributor in your area and provide your heater model.

  • Can I use remote sensors?

Yes, remote sensors can be used. The thermostat chosen must be compatible with external sensors (such as the CE211 thermostat with CE212 or CE213 sensors).

    Where to find more information?

Please contact our authorized distributor in your area and provide your heater model.

Sequence of Operations

  • What is pre-purging?

The burner will exhaust any contaminants in the combustion chamber before ignition begins.

  • What is a trial for ignition?

The length of time that the ignitor will spark and the gas valve will remain open to establish flame.

  • What is an inter-purge?

The burner will exhaust any contaminants between trials for ignition time periods.

  • What is post-purging?

The burner will exhaust any flue gases from the system after the call for heat has ended. The post-purge will only occur when using a 24VAC or low-voltage thermostat.

Module Error Codes

Other

  • How to hang the heater at a 45-degree angle?
    • Hang the chain at one of the 45° ears of the hanger. This will angle the reflectors at 45°
    • Make sure the burner head stays horizontal (0°).

    Where to find more information?

    Installation diagrams in product manuals

  • Can I install my heater at a high altitude?

Most of the SRP heaters are certified to use without any change in Canada for 0 – 4,500 feet above sea level and 0-2000 feet In the U.S. above sea level. Anything over 2000 feet is de-rated by 4% per thousand feet above sea level as per the National Fuel Gas Code in the U.S.

If you require a de-ration kit, which includes an orifice and an air pressure switch, please contact our authorized distributor in your area and provide your heater model.
